Debugging Techniques Swap Meet

Room:
BA 1240

We all love Drupal, but when things go wrong, it can be hard to diagnose and fix the problem. This session will go through ways to debug Drupal modules, themes, javascript, whatever. This will include:

  1. Numerous ways to log messages
  2. The devel module
  3. The Zend debugger
  4. Your pet debugging trick

Participants are encouraged to share and discuss any techniques they've found useful.

OpenID: what is it and what can it do for me?

Room:
BA 1240

Drupal 6 will have support for OpenID in core. Microsoft, AOL, Wordpress.com, Digg, SixApart and Verisign have all pledged (and in some cases rolled out) support for it. So, what's the big deal?
This session will cover some background on Identity2.0, what it enables and how it changes the way we approach our online identities. We'll look at how the protocol works: specifically discussing the security considerations and implications. We'll also cover how to use the drupal modules, with some demos. We'll finish the hour with a look at the possibilities this technology can enable.

Introduction to module development

Room:
BA 1240

This session will provide an introductory look at Drupal module development. The target audience would be those with some familiarity with PHP & MySQL development, but need some help to get "drupalized". We'll cover the following topics:

Hierarchical file management with WebFM

Room:
BA B026

WebFM is a contrib module that provides visual file management comparable to windows explorer and is a great way to organize/present large sets of documents. I'll discuss usage, customizations, configuration and possible roadmaps for the future.

For developers: Implementing Views into your custom module

Room:
BA B026

As the title suggests, this session would run through the implementation of views so given fields/arguments from a developer's custom module would be available to include in a view.

Drupal in the Corporate Space

An open discussion about the experiences people have had selling Drupal to corporations.

Topics could include:
Common objections
Concepts they struggle with
Features they respond most to
Technical hurdles

The idea is to compile a set of best practices for getting corporations to adopt Drupal. It would be great to hear from people who have had experience selling Drupal internally.

Geo Positioning Content with Locations, GeoRSS, CCK

Room:
BA B026

Hello Everyone,
I recently participated in the creation of a Drupal based website that allowed users to create description of physic places in the world and mapping these locations on a map.

The outcome is pretty sweet, it generates a map on the frontpage and a GeoRSS feed. The GeoRSS feed url can be fed into Google Maps to see the locations mapped.

I would like to find out what you would interested in finding out about GeoRSS and what is possible with this technology.
